Hey fellas,
I had my engine rebuilt and fuel pump rebuilt, carb rebuilt and new points and cap, rotor and condenser. It sputters When idling from the exhaust as if it is losing compression or something. I hooked a vacuum test, and the needle flickers. what I have read, that is due to the valve needing adjustment. Would that also cause the sputtering from the end of the exhaust pipe? Thank you in advance.
Yes, it can do that. Who set the valve lash? _________________ '52 Dodge M37, '42 GPW, '48 FrankenJeep CJ2A/M38, '50 CJV-35(U), '51 M38, '42 WC-57 Command Car, '44 WC-51 Weapons , (2) M1941 Sperry 60" Anti-Aircraft Searchlights, John Deere M-gator, '44 White M3A1 Scout Car
You should also consider the warranty from your rebuilder. _________________ Wes K

Do you think he did something wrong or it just needs a valve adjustment? _________________ Semper Fi

Before wasting tons of money and tons of time I have found over the last 50 years that if something just rebuilt doesn't behave correctly and is returned to the builder to give him the opportunity to correct any issues or overlooks that may exist in his product is almost always a lot cheaper than chasing it yourself. If your rebuilder is honest and fair and he finds an issue with his work he will take care of it. On the other hand if when you say

the gentleman who rebuilt my engine.
means the fellow that did just some of my engine rebuild, then you should address the parts of the final rebuild/assembly you did yourself first. _________________ Wes K
