I need a little direction here with this one. On the dash where the plates go, someone has primed that area... I assume the plates are long gone. Now what?? Im on my way over to try to locate any other numbers. Is there numbers on the frame, tub, or other panels??? Thanks! Smile

For the M38 this is an image of what your dash should look like and you should see a plate beside the glove box. See image (I hope you don't mind Wes but I took liberties with your gallery):

On that plate, there should be a tag like this one from Ford. On that, should be a serial number starting with F 1xxxx

If you don't have one, or the dash plate is missing with the tags, you can get reproductions. You should look to see if there is a tag located behind the passenger seat on the front of the back fender. If there is one there, you could possibly have an American Jeep, or an American tub on a Canadian Jeep.

Also go to the drivers side frame on the top of the frame rail in front of the grill. On Canadian units, there is usually a number stamped into the frame that is the Canadian Army Registry Number. It is usually 52-3xxxx that number could also be found on the side of the tub above the foot steps or below the drivers and passenger entrances. it also may be on the side of the hood as well. I tell you this knowing that mine lacks the frame number or the painted on one.

Hope that helps.
