Should I install a body mounting kit? Even with all new suspension, the jeep clatters and creaks like it is falling apart going down the road. The engine, transmission, and transfer case are all rebuilt like new. The the leaf springs, wheel and kingpin bearings, and shocks have all been replaced. The tires and rims, and motor mounts are new as well.

You will have to determine /locate the source of each clatter and creak then share your findings with us and then we may be able to offer some accurate advise.

I'll try to isolate specific sounds when I get the vehicle up and running in a few weeks. In the meantime, the tub will be off for the frame swap. Considering this was not done when the vehicle was "restored", the body mounts are probably 60 years old, and this would be a good time to replace them. I'll replace the toe-board gussets as well. Their being so rusted out they no longer hold the body to the frame probably accounts for some of the noise. The "rebuilder" also put a metal bar in between the right motor mount and what looked like the bottom of the radiator. This was not secured to anything, and I could easily move it around.

Sounds like you are talking about the z-bar and your rig is missing the left one. They were there to allow the power plant along with the radiator to all be removed in one shot. It should have a washer and a keeper pin keeper at the engine end.

That's what it's for! Is there a technical name for it? And does anyone have any surplus ones?

Radiator support rod. One left and one right. They are different. A quick review of your manuals and you will have these answers.
