Well I went to my local tax office and it took me 2 hours to get my vehicle registered as a former military vehicle.
None of the employees have ever done one before and didn't know you could register any such vehicle in that fashion.
Most of the time was spent on the phone calling the Austin office to figure out how to do it. They kept wanting me to do a title transfer.
Glad I took print outs explaining that I didn't need an inspection sticker and that I could use the hood numbers as my plate.
Surprisingly the employees at the office were very nice and helpful unlike the DMV. When we finally finished the ordeal I thanked them for their persistence.
So if you are in Texas and want to get registered your jeep as a FMV in the computer system it can be found by:
They did a "Renewal" had looked under Antique and then the menu below that is
Military Stencil ID or Former Military Vehicle

I registered mine as a "Jeep" . Given the strange political climate going through some states I wouldn't want to have the words "military vehicle" on my jeep.
There was a recent article in Army Motors about one state that had gone overboard towards eliminating MV's.
