I'm searching the rubber hose that connect to the battery drain pan on the M38 cowl battery box. I would prefer NOS but good used or repro will be OK.

Remi,
I have been looking for that a while too. If you find a source let me know. It is a molded hose. I have one, but it is bad shape.

I checked with John at Midwest Military and it is not available, he is working on repro.
Mine have the first elbow broken. I have search for bendable hose to make one without success.
Thanks.

Perhaps that's the conversation with John I recall on the new drain hose project.
I did a little investigating myself a while ago. The early firewall has the drain hole on the right (outboard) side of the toe board gusset. This creates a need for a double bent drain hose. The later firewall has the hole on the left (Inboard) side of the toe board gusset. This puts the hole almost in perfect straight through alignmemnt with the hole in the battery box. Thus no need for the double bends.
Early
Late

years ago I was also looking for a NOS drain hose for my M38. Before i found one I used an M38A1 hose and where the elbow is needed at the top through the dash I used a spring inside the hose to hold its shape as I pushed it through. It worked great and very hard to notice if at all. |

For some reason, My firewall has a battery drain hole on each side of the brace. I looks factory punched and not drilled by someone. _________________ Tropical Veteran
