Remember what Joel said about wiring diagrams. They are a schematic, they are not pictorial nor do they accurately represent wire lengths, routing or numberand location of splices. If you follow the directions in TM 9-8012 Paragraph 150 on pages 190/191 it is VERY evident that the lengths of the two cables are very close to each other since they both connect to the starter (one at the back end on the switch and one at the front end on the support bracket. The cables will be within 6" of each other in length. Hal has the correct original M38 cables and Shawn has the generic Army M series replacement.
Correct original equipment M38 = 33" and 29"
Generic M series replacement sets = 40" and 11"
