Any tips for getting a flooded engine to start?
I went to fire up the M38 after sitting for a few weeks and accidentally choked it for too long. I am pretty sure it is flooded and need to get it fired up tomorrow morning to take the kids out for a day of fun in the desert.
Last time I did this I just let it sit overnight and it fired up in the morning but I need to figure out how to get it going if i do it somewhere away from home.

give max.trottle with your food while starting, the big quatity of air evaporates the flooded gas, when the relation gas/air is OK the negine will start !
during starting keep full trottle !
when he starts just play with the trottle to keep it going !
after a few black smoke at the exhaust, he will start ! _________________ 1942 GPW 71336 my son's jeep restored now

You can also close the shutoff valve then crank it with throttle and choke plates wide open for 15 or 20 seconds then turn on the shutoff valve and crank again the same way untill it starts.
In severe flodding cases where the above doesn't work then pull the plugs, close the shutoff and again crank her 30 seconds with throttle and choke plates wide open. Then block the throttle linkage wide open while you clean, dry and reinstall the plugs. Then try a normal start. _________________ Wes K

Ryan,
The other fuel pump post is the one Dave posted on the G503. The pump was mounted to high. _________________ Wes K
