|
|
Has anyone successfully re-stamped a set of re-pop data plates with all pertinent information for their jeep, contract numbers, serial number, etc? I have a set of plates and would love to stamp them correctly right down to a delivery date (best guess) including the inspector stamp. Anyone have any solutions? Does anyone offer this service? Thanks for looking.

Thanks Brian! And thanks to whomever put the plate picture on my post! That will help a lot. Maybe the chap from Texas will chime in unless someone know who they are and can PM me a name? As for my delivery date, I'm going to search for as many serial numbers as I can with know delivery dates and guess at mine accordingly. I hope the serial numbers were sequential? _________________ Pete Phillips

The Ford serial numbers on M38CDN's did not have strictly sequential delivered dates. The actual delivered dates may have been a few days to several weeks or more after the vehicle rolled off the line; likely depending on the correction of deficiencies. The best solution if the actual date is not known is to stamp the year "52" and leave space ahead of the year blank. Research may uncover your correct month and day. Have you checked with a trophy shop about engraving or stamping? ... Brian |

Thanks for the insight Brian. And that's a great idea about trying a trophy shop; we're a bit limited here in Cold Lake but Edmonton is an option with a little research. _________________ Pete Phillips

Thanks Wes. I had seen those posts before and they offer some great information. I suspect I'm looking for un-obtanium trying to guess at a delivery date. _________________ Pete Phillips

Would someone be willing to provide me with a pencil etching of a period correct (1952) inspectors stamp so I can try to get it reproduced? Or does anyone know of an easier way to copy it? _________________ Pete Phillips

I should be able to do something with that Wes. General question, is the date on the US plate the manufacturer date or delivered date? It would be simpler if our plates only identified dates only to the month instead of actual delivery day. _________________ Pete Phillips
