Hello,

I would like to find information about my M38. Is there a site or place where I can look up using the serial number? Just curios to know what history does it have. Thank you in advance.

Unfortunately the answer is No!

The military did not retain assignment records or maintenance records on it's wheeled vehicle fleets.

A few folks were lucky enough to have purchased their jeeps with some of their records still in the jeep. For example the SF 97 that would have accompanied the jeep through the surplus disposal system would have listed the last unit to which it was assigned. If you are certain of your jeep's serial number and hood number you can review old photos at unit historical web sites looking for a M38 with your jeep's hood number.

Our M38 serial database helps with a date of delivery for jeeps based on their serial numbers. http://www.willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=35
