I looked through all the posts I could find and couldn't find an exact answer to this question. When a Jeep was repainted by a specific service branch in something other than OD, did they repaint the engine bay, engine, trans and frame or leave it OD. I've looked through a few of the pics on the site and can see some OD engine compartments on Strata blue Jeeps. I'd like to repaint my M38 in Navy gray. _________________ 1951 M38
The OD usually was left in tact if it did not normally show. I was in the USAF for 22 years and we didn't bother with the frame and underhood areas. I do not recall seeing an original Navy M38 or M38A1 that was not gray under the hood. _________________ Wes K
