Hello everyone, I'm looking for a complete heater kit for my M38. I will soon have an arctic top, and would like to get the heater kit also. Winter is cold up here in NY.

Thanks, Paul

The M38 installation doesn't hide the heater under the hood like the A1. It sits right up on the cowl ahead of the driver's side windshield. Makes the M38 look a bit gainly or homely.

I have a nice arctic top and two gas heater setups but I really do not want to mess up the nice look of the stock M38 with that straight up and down windshield and a huge heater box blocking half the driver's windshield.

For the winter here in Wisconsin I am using the hot water heater kit and a civvy CJ3A steel top kit.

Wes, I wouldn't keep it on the entire year. Just like you, I would use it only in the winter. I would just would like to have the accessory.

Which one is better, hot water or gas? Also I have a '51 so it is not set up for the heater kit.

I will try Debella.

Thanks

The straight windshield mounting add's a lot of holes on each side of the cowl. The military arctic top does not have a tailgate matching lift panel in the rear like the 3A top and the 3A top offers a lot more window area. Also the 3A top lets you leave the original windshield on the jeep which eliminates the need to swap heater ducting around every year.

The gas heater is a very good unit but one must be very careful with preventative maintenance on them. They can kill you quickly and quietly with CO poisoning. The heater cans need to be pressure leak checked each year. Their burners are very sensitive to fuel quality and pressure regulation.
Don't get me wrong, I have used them for years but I am very careful with them. And yes they offer great heat output.

The hot water heater can be made virtually invisible and can be left there year round.
