The press fit vacuum tubes on my M38 fuel pump don't want to stay in place. What could I use on them that may work. Is there an epoxy or something else that will withstand heat? I know its a press fit but would red threadlocker work? Thanks.

The vacuum tubes coming off the fuel pump are supposed to be 1/4" inverted flare fittings... not press on fit... only press to fit fitting that would be in that area is the connection to the wipers after the "Tee"...

I don't recall the brand but it's a new pump. I'll check in the morning. I've thought about tapping it so I can use screw in fittings. I already have the small pipe thread taps.

do you have a civilian pump with two curved tubes off the bottom section? If so, careful use of JB weld should work fine

M38 vacuum pump

Civilian jeep fuel pump

While you are putzing with your substitute pump what type pump did you remove? Some use a spacer to control pump output pressure. If you aren't sure either way at least use a pump pressure gauge on intial startup so you can be sure the pump is putting out the correct pressure. That is if you have the stock YS637S carb????

Yes Keats it's a civilian pump. I'll consider the JB-Weld. Wesk, we discussed the spacer some time ago and I was told it needed the 1/8" spacer, which I now have. Thanks to all. I appreciate it.
