My M38 temperature gage goes from 60 to 260 degrees. It goes full scale in about 5 minutes.I have checked everything I can think of.I then recall that some of the gages had a resistor in line on the back of the gage.Does anyone know which AC gage (by part number on front of gage) uses the resistor and also the valve of this resistor? MANY THANKS

Best to troubleshoot 24V indicator problems with the Army TB written for that job.

Only the very early M38 used the early instrument set that had the external resistors mounted on their pwr terminal.

If you will open up your ORD 9 SNL G-740 M38 Parts Manual to the Group 0607 pages 149 to 155 you will find the numbers Resistor, 95 Ohm ORD # 7539516 AC# 1507429 or WO# 118942 used on vehicles thru SN MC17855 and the temp gauge used with it Gage, water temp with resistor ORD# 7728855 AC# 151224 SW# 505A or WO# 118105.

If you do not have this very important manual you can download free here at: http://www.willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=95
