What is the relationship if any of Crown to Omix-Ada?

I see suppliers selling parts labeled Crown, and selling parts labeled Omix-Ada.

I know where Omix-Ada comes from. What about Crown?

Product quality?

Thanks,

Omix ada and crown have no relationship, if anything, they are competitors. Omix ada is considered the inferior of the two by a bit, yes there is some good stuff (don't trust anything that if broke would endanger your life or shred your engine). Omix ada makes basically every part, but it may very a bit from what you took off, it still works, but not always exact match. Crown got its beginning around ww2, don't recall specifically how, "believe they supplied jeep parts to military". After the war they had tons of left over stock and sold it, when they ran out, they made exact copy's of the originals. Now i am not saying all off the crown stuff is perfect ( had my rubber tie rod boots split in half after 4 months, and no use ever, bran new, and had issues with the crown head gasket its self). So in short, crown is the better of the two and will give exact parts, but are more expensive and may not have some parts omix ada has. Also crown still runs by the original p/n, which makes finding stuff easier. Omix is also usually more expensive, but only by a few cents or dollars, not shocking different. On a personal note, crown has GREAT customer service, have tons of books that they can and will look up part number for you, if you can't find one.

Now Saberr's post is a great little nugget of information!

I was wondering who Crown was as well, as I see their stuff on Ebay all the time but haven't heard anyone mention their name while having face to face conversations about my A1 with folks at military meets, etc. I Googled Crown but never found what Saberr's post contains. Now I get it.

thanks,
bob

They only go back to 1963. A wee bit short of WWII.

Here's Crown's history from their own page:

https://www.crownautomotive.net/about-crown.html

Quote:
About Crown Automotive
Crown Automotive is a leading manufacturer and distributor of quality replacement parts for Jeep® vehicles, including the CJ™, Wrangler™, Cherokee™, Grand Cherokee™, Liberty™, Commander™, Patriot™ and Compass™. In addition to Jeep, Crown Automotive now offers an expanding line of OEM replacement parts for Chrysler & Dodge vehicles.

From humble beginnings in 1963 in a small Boston storefront, Crown Automotive has consistently maintained its commitment to offering only quality parts and exceptional service. Today, with warehouses in Massachusetts, Georgia, Nevada, Spain, and the Czech Republic, totaling over 160,000 square feet, Crown Automotive continues to be the leader in quality replacement parts for Jeep® vehicles.

With over 9,000 different parts in stock for Jeep® vehicles from 1942 on up, Crown has the largest stock of replacement parts for Jeep® vehicles, including factory-discontinued parts. In fact, many of the older Jeeps are still on (and off) the road thanks to Crown parts. The Crown line consists of axle, body, brake, clutch, cooling, driveline, electrical, engine, exhaust, fuel, steering, suspension, transmission and transfer case components. Crown Automotive also offers an exclusive line of component kits and accessory products.

Because we know that Jeeps are driven harder than most other vehicles, we emphasize offering only quality parts. In fact, we test parts on Jeeps before distributing them to our dealers to insure that they meet our standards for quality. Crown also supports its entire line with a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty to insure our dealers and their customers of our commitment to offering quality parts.

We know from experience that Jeep® owners would rather pay a little more for a good quality part that's backed by a strong guarantee. But we know that price is important as well. So, not only will you find Crown parts to be of exceptional quality, but you'll find them at a great price too!

If you are a Jeep owner and would like to purchase Crown Automotive parts, please contact one of our authorized dealers.
