Hello,
I have a 1962 M38A1 CDN2 95% restored. I am having a problem with gas getting into the oil pan. The jeep ran great, then it sat for almost a year and I was having trouble getting it started. I found that it was flooding horribly and gas was getting in the pan. checked the carb and the diaphrams were cracked, I have rebuilt the carb and the jeep starts and runs good, however there is still gas getting into the oil.
I am thinking something with the fuel pump might be causing this. If anyone has any suggestions or thoughts it would be greatly appreciated.
More than likely you have a hole in your pump diaphram. I have never experienced this problem with a jeep but have had it happen to me with GM built cars. They can put a lot of fuel down in your oil pan in a short period of time although your engine is still running fine. Time for a rebuilt of the pump or a replacement

Im with Gamillerman on this. I just rebuilt my pump. Take the pump off and on the flange where it bolts to the engine you will find a 3 digit stamped number. Call up Then-Now Automotive http://www.then-now.com/index.htm
They can link the number to the pump kit you need to rebuild your pump. Cost me $47 US for the rebuild kit both ends. You can also send them your pump and they will rebuild it for you. My M38 fuel pump has been great ever since. _________________ SteveJ

Gmillerman, I read in a earlier post you found out the primer lever has to be put in a certain position, did you find out what the correct position is?
