Good morning all,

Can someone tell me where I may find a replacement coil for my 1955 M38A1? Are they even made anymore? Also is changing the points and condenser any different than doing them for the civi models? Are parts any different?
It still has the waterproof distributor system. I've owned the vehicle for about three years, and have not changed the points or condenser yet, so it may be time to do so. I have a manual, just need info on where to get the parts needed, and any advice on changing things would also be appreciated.

Thanks for any and all advice.

Hi Chris. The first place I check for parts for my A1 is John Bizal at Midwest Military. He has repro coils on page two of his M38A1 parts list. Here's a link:

> 1. Where can I get replacement militray spark plug wires? Mine have some medium sized nicks in the rubber coating. I don't think they are effecting things, but can not be certain.

Midwest Military http://www.midwestmil.com/
Rapco http://www.rapcoparts.com/
Army Jeep Parts http://www.armyjeepparts.com/order_page/contact_ajp.htm

Unlike civvy wires the military wires are shielded. They have the basic ignition wire inside, then a rubber conduit, then a braided steel shell which is the coated with rubber. The two layers of rubber take care of waterproofing. The braided steel shell keeps ignition noise out of the radios. That outer rubber coat won't affect wire performance. Get some black fusion tape and wrap it.
