Speedometer Cable

Is there any trick to getting the cable to go into the housing on the output end of the transfer case?

I have inserted and turned the drive shaft. I have turned the cable shaft in little increments.

It will only go in a small bit and I don’t want to force it.

Thanks, Alan

Should slip right in. Is this a just rebuilt and installed transfer? Has the cable you are trying to put in already been in there once?

It is a NOS cable and housing just out of a bag.

The transfer case was rebuilt about a year ago and installed. I am just now at the point where I want to run the cable to the fire wall and speedo.

Maybe it would help to put some grease on the end of the cable?

Try it with the speedo end off so you can turn the inner cable by hand to align the keyed part of the tip with the slot in the driven gear.
