Gentlemen,
What is the best way to get rid of lead based paint on steel parts of a M38A1 Willys AFTER you have already taken then to the local guys to get solevent baths and sandblasted?

This is what I've been doing.
I use paint stripper to get most of it off. If it's not coming off with stripper then you will have to sand it. I like to make quick work of it with a course sanding disc attached to my 4 inch grinder. For odd shaped parts I just get some 60 grit and try to get most of it off.
As for protection, as long as you use it outside and you don't chew on the gunk falling off you will be fine. If I need to sand a small section I don't worry too much about it. If I'm going to kick up a cloud, I get out the respirator. Dust mask for sanding bondo is good enough. Vacuum up with bag in your shop vac.
I also use a small blast cabinet at my house with a shop vac connected.
Maybe leaving a little paint is o.k. as long as no rust is underneath. _________________ '53 M38A1 X2
