I went to go put on the new short and long oil filter lines and find that they are flared fittings on both ends of the hoses. Is this right? Also they are only 1/8" pipes. Seems small? On my oil cleaner housing (non Cuno), the fittings are NPT. The timing cover and block are a flared fitting but looks like 3/16". The old lines were 3/16 with different ends. Do I just have to buy flared adapters and is 1/8" line ok? Sorry but Im tired and hope this makes sense.

The correct lines have an inverted flare fitting on one end and 1/8" male pipe on the other. If you bought them from KW, you are just one of many who go to the wrong vendor. You had better check the fitting end crimping also. The import hoses are not barbed on the inside, and I have seen them blow the hose right off the fitting under the normal oil pressure.

I was wrong by listing KW as to who I bought them from, I got them from Morris but the KW pic is an exact representation of what I got. They are Crown brand which I'm guessing are junk. I guess they are going back.

Call your local heavy truck shop or agricultural equipment dealer and ask who builds their hydraulic hoses. Then take your old original hoses there and they will fabricate right on the spot two very good high quality hoses that they can pressure check for you right there while you wait.

Wes,
Funny you should suggest that. I went into our local house of hose yesterday that makes up hoses and hydraulic lines. I was quoted a very reasonable price. Im taking my old ones in today after work.
