I am having a difficult time finding a source for 2HN batteries. There was a guy an this list in the past who was selling them (I bought two years ago from him) but now it appears his supply has run dry. I have not been able to find another source for these hard to find batteries. Anybody have some suggestions?
Thanks,

Hey Dan. I recently made a few calls about these batteries.
Seems to me if you call NAPA (no auto parts available)
they're not much help unless you can say it's out of a
"93 ford p-u w/5 litre v-8. To big a PIA i guess.
But this being a farm town and me being a farmer i called
my local ag-automotive tire shop. They're more willing to
research since they also deal in ag tractor batteries.
They tell me that the 2HN (new designation 6TMS) is
available from their distributor in salt lake for $175 each-OUCH.
They tell me that 22NF or 22series batteries are about $75 each,
more like it. 22 series batteries measure 9.5" long x 6.75" wide
x 8.5" to top of posts.
If i learned anything from my research it was to avoid the auto
parts guy who relies solely on a book or computer. Talk to the
small town ag/auto guy. Good luck, rick.

There is a place here in Wichita, KS that sells the 2HN batteries for $89.50 each. They are dry and he can ship them that way. Their name is Allied Batteries, phone number 316-524-3348 or 1-800-529-3348.
Hope this helps,
Kendall

The 22NF, at 5-1/2", is narrower than the other 22 series batteries: http://www.rtpnet.org/teaa/bcigroup

How true! There used to be a small independent auto parts store here where the guys really knew their stuff, real parts men. I walked in one time and said I needed an oil filter element for a 1953 Ford V-8 and he didn't even have to look it up, just walked back into the stock and pulled one off the shelf. About blew me away. Unfortunately, they're no longer in existence Sad

Decide up front first: Do you want the correct battery so you can show the jeep or do you want a good quality pair of batteries with a 3 to 6 year warranty that fit, are cheaper and easier to replace later and will probably start your jeep better and longer than the hard to find, high priced 2HN?

There are several civvy groups that will fit the box. You just need to decide on battery post orientation, CCA ratings and warranty. The 22NF, 45, 51 and 51R are a few that fit.

Thanks for the advice. In truth I have never shown my jeep and never really though much about that. Although in retrospect it seems I have spent an exorbitant amount of time & money to ensure its complete authenticity. I believe my jeep to ~95% correct. This seems foolish, but I'll accept this as a flaw in my character. I really have this jeep for my own enjoyment and as a tribute to my uncles and grandfather who served in past military conflicts.

What I really want is a reliable battery that will fit in the box and have the correct hold-down frames be functional in adequately securing the batteries. I have gone through 4 correct 2HN batteries and have not really been satisfied with them...2 years is the most I have been able to get from any of my previous 2HN batteries.

Thanks...I need to update my photos. I've added several new items to my jeep since those photos were taken.
    correct Ramsey 50 winch
    snorkel kit
    corrected underwater ventilation system

Maybe I'll get to in the next few weeks..the weather is turning very nice here along the Rio Grande in south Texas.

My 2HN's are right about 4 yrs old. I keep a 24volt battery tender on them when jeep isn't being driven. also keep a check on water level.
