So I just purchased a take-off rifle rack for my M38. My jeep windshield frame does not have predrilled holes for the rack brackets. Could someone please provide a diagram of exactly where the holes for the 3 brackets go? What size bolts are correct? Also, exactly how do you attach the rifle rack to the 3 brackets. I did an archive search but came up empty.
Thanks,

Nobody has any advice? I found info on bolt size requirements for attaching the 3 brackets to the windshield frame in Ryan Millers book. But I still don't know exactly where to locate these brackets on the windshield frame. I'm guessing the best way is to attach the brackets to the rifle rack, then hold the whole assembly up to the windshield frame and then make marks where the bracket holes end up and them drill the holes. Does this sound reasonable? I have not been able to find any info on the correct bolts required to attach the rifle rack to the brackets. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Dan

The bolt types and sizes are listed in the SNL...

The triangular bracket goes on the drivers side of the windshield, just inside the frame...

if you can give me a day or two I can try to get measurements... and photos...

Hope this helps...

The bolts listed in the ORD 9 are for the bolts that attach the three brackets to the windshield.

The bolts that attach the rifle scabbard to the brackets come in the scabbard kit. You will need to find someone with an NOS scabbard kit that has a copy of the kit contents.

Scabbard installed but the left triangle bracket is missing.

Left main bracket

Right main bracket.

Note the smooth head carriage bolts that should be covered with some thin felt.

I see that MidWest Military is still sold out of their repro rifle racks. Hopefully they'll get more soon.

Thanks for the info...I purchased a take off part Rifle Rack from ebay and so don't have the bolts which attach the rack to the brackets. Can someone provide some info about these bolts. Also if some one could provide a template of where to drill the bracket holes into the windshield frame..that would be useful. My windshield does not have pre-drilled holes for the brackets.
