Hello: This probably has been discussed so hopefully it is a easy answer.

What is the Brand, size, and type of tire that would of been factory original for 1955 M170.

Thanks,
brian

Goodyear 7.00 - 16 6 ply NDCC from Willys. For field installed tires the list includes the same size and rating by Cooper, Firestone, Pennsylvania and maybe one or two more.

thanks for the information. I looked at the 5 tires that are currently on the jeep.

1 - BF Goodrich silvertown dated 1952
3 - goodyears dating in the 50, 60"s
1 - firestone from the 60's

does anyone make a goodyear? Most repro's seem to be firestone.

Only two repops I know of are Firestone and STA (Specialty Tires of America) (the old McCreary).

Does anyone know where the best place is to buy the firestone tire? coker is asking $154 per tire. Maybe a firestone store?

This post may help:

Just my opinion, but your local tire store would be the best starting point. The info on this label may help your local dealer:

It's in a larger size on page 5 of my album here:

Crikies Shocked I paid less than that each for STA's 700 x 16 flown to Australia 8 weeks a go. Got mine through Wallace Wade Tires:-

STA :- http://www.stausaonline.com/

Hmmmm. I thought I'd paid over the odds for Firestone NDCC's, but they equate to $244 each (that includes the 20% tax), which is comparable to the prices quoted above. I could have got some "made in India" NDT's for $195 each, but decided USA quality was more appealing. Wink

P.S. If folks in the UK are looking for Firestone NDCC's, try these:

http://www.northhantstyres.com/

Fast service, and there was no delivery charge when I bought mine.......

Owen.

OK - I am a little confused. I ordered the NDCC Coker Firestone tires and they arrived today. The treads are rounded or "U" shape on the coker Firestone tires. My originals are also marked NDCC and the treads are more of a "V" shape?

What am i missing..? Did I order incorrect tires?

The tread consists of lugs and recesses. Which of these is more "V" shaped. A picture of your old and new tire side by side would make this easy.

Are the make and part number of your old and new tires the same?

I guess it would be the recess. New ones are U shaped and old ones a V shaped.

Old tires are :
1 - BF Goodrich silvertown dated 1952
3 - goodyears dating in the 50, 60"s
1 - firestone from the 60's

New Coker Firestone NDCC. I will take a picture, but may need help adding it to site. still have not mastered loading a photo.
