I just had a local mechanic[who talked me into this] rebuild my Carter WO with a kit from Midwest Mil. Now it runs worse. It seems to be starving for fuel. It only runs with the choke half way out. This is a M-38 with 24v. ignition and a CJ type fuel pump.Compression is good and spark is good. I have checked the timing and vacuum pressure. I pulled the fuel line off and it did pump fuel. I have not checked fuel pressure. I think I should have bought a rebuilt carb from John and may still do that. Is there anything I'm missing? Appreciate any help. Thanks

The WO series is a simple rebuild. What does your mechanic have to say about the poor operation of his fresh rebuild? How was it running before the rebuild?

Be careful how you interpret this behavior. It can have two entirely different meanings.
1-Not enough fuel. Float level set too low, pump pressure low, dirt in passageways.
2-Too much air. Carb base gasket leaking air. Manifold leaking air in.
Note the civvy pump does not use the GI pump spacer!
