|

So I'm thinking about changing my gauges for the new repro ones.(they are rusty inside) Can I unhook any of the battery cables to kill it so I don't fry anything or is there a certain one that has to be undone. Thanks John jr |

Assuming youre still 24v, running (2) 12v batts you always disconnect
the negative cable FARTHEST from the starter. Or in other
words the neg that goes to your frame ground.

Check it out John, I joined this outfit 1 day after you.. _________________ keep 'em rollin'

The ground cable that goes to the frame is the safe one to disconnect. On a stock M38, it's the one at the front of the under hood battery box that bolts to the front of the battery mount. Now, when reconnecting, you will get a small spark and then nothing. That is caused by a capacitor in the voltage regulator. |

Here's a neat disconnect I installed to my M38. Not by any means stock or correct, but it's quick and handy. I use it every time I mess w/the
electrical sys.

Rick, that's discreet. I know you added this and I'm thinking you mentioned, at one point its origin but where did you get that? _________________ Brett
