I am getting a 1942 MB. What would be a good reference source for making this vehicle one that was used by the Marines in the Pacific Theater during WW2?

All American Wonder Volume 1 and II All about the Ford & Willys jeep will be able to help they have what year and markings not sure which volume G503 might be able to help buzzz
The first jeep I ever owned I got as a teenager in the 1970's and it was an unrestored '45 GPW that was also a USMC jeep. It had an S on the side of the cowl. Other than hood numbers and USMC they had very few markings from what I have seen. I believe the S meant the jeep had a suppressed ignition system as to not cause radio interference.

Marine vehicles carried very few markings. The hood registration number was about it unless more than one Marine division was involved on that battlefield. If so the simple emblem for the division was displayed.

Welcome to the Board, 1976 Eagle!
I want to make sure I understand what you want to do.
If it is to mark your MB as a USMC jeep like this GPW I can guide you on what tac marks to use if you know what Division and such you want to portray.
However, if you are wanting to set your 1942 MB up as a contract USMC jeep... like this contract jeep that belongs to Lloyd White... well that will take more then some markings.
What frame number is your MB?
Oh, almost forgot... you can read up on what we call tac marks... 4th Marine Division UNIS Guide.
