At the front end of the sump pan ,sits a small guard /drip plate ,with 6 bolt holes . (goes under the front crank pulley) Mine looks as though it was put together in a hurry by a previous owner . Does anone have a diagram or sketch of how it should be fitted .It looks as though it should have spacers .....possibly with longer fixing bolts .

Have you visited the M38's ORD 9 SNL G-740 parts manual yet? The illustration on page 12 is great.

On page 47 you will find the oil pan listed with 20 attaching bolts. 14 of them are 5/16-18NC-2x5/8" and 6 are 5/16-18NC-2x1". Ignore the superseding 1/8" that's a typo. Should be 1 1/8".

Then on page 28 they hid the SHIELD, Pulley and it's 6 spacers. Note: the spacers lack any dimensional info.

Our guys can always help!

Steel, ID 0.4665-0.4685, OD 0.5615-0.5635, length 0.6865-0.6885
