Here is a step-by-step guide for the installation of a mechanical brake light switch in place of the standard hydraulic. It is surprisingly quick, easy, and painless!
Mechanical switch AC Delco # U858, Napa SL128.
Find the rough position which puts the switch arm behind the pedal arm.
Mark, Drill, and mount the switch to the master cylinder floor pan cover.
Attach brake switch harness and test for continuity across the leads. I removed the douglas connector shells from the harness before this step.
Re-install the cover, ensuring that the switch arm is behind the pedal arm.
End result of the switch in position.
There you have it. Good luck! _________________ Jordan

I did the same setup, the original switch stays in position, the wires where long enough to put on the new switch. Now I have brakelights when i press the pedal before the brakes start to work, a good improvement in daily traffic.
i used the napa echlin sl 175
thanks for the tip
