I can't say for sure about the old jeeps and bumpers. When I was in the Army, we would use what ever parts we could to fix vehicles (as long as it fit and worked)

Measure the length of the wheel base. If it is 101 inches then and a civilian jeep then its most likely a CJ6 ...

I would try a nut splitter or slowly cut the lug nut with a cutoff wheel or hacksaw blade in numerous places until you can get it off. As long as you are careful the stud won't get messed up.
