Hello, my M38a1, 1953 had the same symptons and replacing the condensor and readjusting the points cured it. I also had replaced the carb, coil, and fuel pump without curing the problem. RH |

I have the steering column from a m170 with the bearing on the bottom. No steering box or steering wheel , no sector shaft. is it what you you need? |

Thanks Matt, I did not think of that. There were pieces of a harness in an extra parts box but I think it is for an early M151 truck. It has the Douglas metal connectors but in the wrong areas. Robert |

I have a 1953 M38a1 and it does not have the loops on the side like the illustration shows. Did these come later? Mine has no holes or welded places where these are placed? Robert |

Wes. did all m38a1's have these plugs? I went over my 1953 and found no spot welds, no other holes for the ground wire. Robert |

Thanks, Wes. I have three of the plugs and mounts all were loose in a box of parts. I could not find any matching holes except the ones in the seat retainer spring. Robert |
