Is it possible that a left over motor from an MC was put into an MD? Cause the serial number on the motori ndicates its a 1952.

I have a 1955 M38A1D, was just wondering how many of them are out out there. From what I've read there were probably only about 50 that had the Davy Cocket 120mm Launcher installed on them.
