what octane gasoline were you using? A cracked piston could be the result of detonation or it could be a cheap piston.

Not sure how to post pics, but it's a volley ball size dent. If it weren't for the raised mount I would roll the steel and patch. But that would leave my mirror mount flat on the cowl.
