Does anyone know the cross reference number or number for a new rear brake cylinder on a 1953 M38A1. Maybe they are all the same on all wheels ?. Took my old one to the local NAPA store but had no luck ,they only had numbers for the CJ5 civilian but not miltary ones . Maybe they are the same, I don,t know and neither did the Napa store. Can anyone help me out thanks .Dave

the front wheel cylinders are 1" bore and the rears are 3/4" bore if I'm not mistaken.

just browsing the Napa parts "SE" catalog search for "cj brake" with narrowed search criteria for Wheel cylinder, rendered these findings.
Of course, one would take their old W/C to the counter for comparison and Fit should your local Napa have them in stock.

for front 1" W/C:
part # UP 16534

for rear 3/4" W/C:
part # UP 16535

again, double check the tube and bolt thread sizing and hole mount spacing center to center and fit to your old.

otherwise, I'd get the from Midwest, AJP, or Debella.

You can also use the standard NAPA Cylinders, they are the same size and threads. The rear is NAPA Part # UP7568 and the front are # UP7379. I used them and didn't have any issues. I wish the bleed valve wasn't so small and it didn't have a big Made In China sticker but other than that they work.

I just ordered some a few weeks ago so they do have them.

I believe you will find that they are labeled left and right as assemblies because the installed fittings angle. All you need to do is to swap the fittings.
