I just found out that a friend has a '52 or '53 Willys 4x4 pickup truck that I can get for nothing. He wants to keep the cab and front sheetmetal. He plans to put the cab and front end on a Toyota truck chassis. Like Forrest Gump said "That's all I have to say 'bout that". Anyway I'm wondering what parts would be worth saving for spares for my '55 M38A1. The engine is stuck tight . The valve cover and distributor are missing. The 12 volt starter and generator are there , although if I ever decided to convert mine from 24v to 12v I would use a Delco alternator instead of the generator. What about the transmission and transfer case ? Did the trucks use the T90 transmission and T18 transfer case? I can't remember if the rear diff is there or not. What about the front axle ? Would it be worth keeping? Thanks.
Is it a F134 4 cyl powered truck or a 6 cylinder truck?
The axles won't work. Wheels aren't correct for M38/M38A1.The tranny was a T90 with different ratios and a different input shaft. _________________ Wes K

I just pulled a T90 from a truck that had the same gearing and input shaft as an M38 so who knows what was changed through the years. Check it first.
It also had a GPW block. That was a keeper.
Does it have the original front seats? Truck guys want that. Same for the tailgate.
