Hi Guys, my first time on here, I have a M38A1 and an M416A1 trailer. the master cylinder on the trailer seems to be clogged up, i have had a go at cleaning it out but its not worked very well. i am wondering where I can get new insides for this. any ideas?

Unless you have really serious corrosion issues the metal parts and valves will clean up and the rubber parts are sure to share commonality with several master cylinders so a visit to a parts outlet should yield the needed rubber parts.

I notice the same part number for the A1 master cylinder 10614 comes up with trailer parts companies' listings of replacement parts.

Also this thread on Steel Soldiers says the 3/4 ton M101A2 cylinder is the same and they interchange with a mid 60's CJ5 master cylinder and it's service kit.

Hi Wes, Thanks very much. I am going to get the whole unit on the bench in the near future. Andy

Wiltshire, does you're trailer have solid wheels like a M38a1 or slotted like the other M416 models? Just curious. I've got solid wheels on mine.

Yup, but I need to get them working again. What are you using to pull the plug out of the reservior?

I think I just got it on the bench and undid each end and poked the rubber seal to twist it so i could pull that out and then pushed from the other end. It was the slave cylinder pistons that were seized for me and took quite a bit of wd40 and time to free them.
