Early ( Model # MBP4301UT) has an open nose that bolts to the bell and it requires a 124 tooth flywheel, and a small hole bell housing that mounts the starter with two 3/8" bolts.

Late (Model MCZ4001UT) has a closed in nose that bolts to the bell and it requires a 129 tooth flywheel and a large hole bell housing that mounts the starter with two 1/2" bolts.

You cannot mix and match.

Early Open Nose left and late closed nose right.

That's a late closed nose for the M38 with the late bell and flywheel and all M38A1 and all M170.
