and last but not least, I bought the military 24 volt turn signal upgrade for my M38A1 off ebay. Unfortunately, it doesn't have an install manual, just a wiring diagram. Does anyone know where I can find installation instructions?

Vintage Wiring of Maine sells a harness kit with turn signal wires already included with instructions. You have WW2 combat wheels????? My guess is that they will fit being they are 16 inch. I know they fit with a 16 inch standard Willys wheel cause my frind has 11 inch drums on his 3A. Are you changing to different park lamps and taillights, or adding new lights for the turn signals?

I got the complete military upgrade kit. It shows three wires going to the passenger side taillight, so I think I need to get a second driver side taillight to fit in there. I was hoping to turn the front marker lights into turn signal lights.
I do have 16" military rims.
Oh, and I have all the wires, i just need to know what goes where!

There are two military 24 volt turn signal upgrade kits. Which one do you have? Early with distribution/relay box or late with the transistorized flasher?

Late transistorized flasher.

This is the layout for the late system.

This is the early system distribution/relay box.

This is the early system instruction TB.

This is what your choices are for two red tail lights, two red brake lights and turn signals.

I have the early one. My email is danhenk@gmail.com
My address is

And Wes, it looks like I add a headlight, instead of replacing the right one. Is this right? And where do I add it? Where do I install the big central box as well?

The solid state instructions are for the late kit. You need to go to my photo album and download all the pages of MWO 9-2300-263-20.

http://www.willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules.php?full=1&set_albumName=Wes-Knettle&id=Pg_1&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

You can click on each JPEG and download the larger file for each page.

Alright, the package I got doesn't have any light assemblies. Do I need to purchase a new driver's side rear tailight, and two new blackout marker lights? That's what it looks like from the instructions.

The only thing you need to make the system work for the civilian highway use is a new driver's side tail light assembly to install on the right (passenger) side and wire per the instructions. If you want to accurately portray a GI jeep in use then you'll need to buy the add-on right rear tiny BO stop lamp. It is different from the BO parking lamps in your grill. It's lens has a different cutout showing in it. For the front you have three options. 1 - Just use the existing lamps and add the amber lens kit. 2 - convert them from BO parking lamps only to dual contact lamp sockets so you can retain the front BO parking lamp function and have a flashing lamp function for turns as well. 3 - Add two new additional lamps to the front of the jeep just for the turn signal function.

Light assy, BO stop or Auxilliary BO Stop Light. It's listed on page one of the MWO you are reading Ordnance PN 8741645 or FSN 6220-775-2385. Just google the two numbers and buy one. The light listed above it is the extra driver's side assy you need. You can locate one of those the same way.

A good surplus dealer to shop for lights, switches and wiring needs is Saturn Surplus.

The only real difference between the stock front BO marker lamps and the add-on minature rear BO stop lamp is the lens or door.

Saturn lists this lens for $8.50

http://saturnsurplus.com/lights/blkoutlense.htm

Saturn also sells the amber lens kit ($8.50) for the front BO markers if you are using them for the turn signal function:

Or they sell the whole small light assy for $26.50

I got the amber lenses for the front signals, and gamma goat lenses for the taillights. If I get a front blackout light, and put a red lens on it, I'll be good for that little marker light in the back?
