m38 electrical parts

I have a m38 that I bought for parts.
It has some of the original 24volt parts--- starter, generator and voltage regulator. My other m38 is 12v and I won't be needing these.
I will probably be putting these on ebay shortly, but I had a question. Should I sell them as is or should I get my local shop to rebuild them so they run? Are these things in demand?
Any information would be helpful.

I have sold all of those parts on Ebay in the past. They always sold with no problem. If they were mine, I would just put them on Ebay as is. If you have two batteries, you can test the starter easily. It will get more money if it has been tested and it works. I don't know how to test the regulator and generator.

If you take them to an auto electric shop and have them bench tested and get a receipt for the testing with the results on the receipt and they test good you can ask a higher price. Simply hitting them with 24 volts does not tell you they are serviceable. It simply tells you the current flows through them and they make noise and move. A bench check will insure the starter is checked against RPM, Stall Test Amps and etc as well as bearing shape and drive condition. The generator can be motored to prove it will spin but needs to be benched to determine it can be properly controlled and functions well under load. The regulator can only be tested on the bench.

Most folks here will pay a fair price for them with or without the testing. Ebay has it's associated costs and return item issues that can make the increase in return a real PITA.

I had a shop check out the starter and generator and they tested ok.
They could not test the regulator.

I have no clue what these things are worth. I bet they don't just fall off of trees, but I guess the shipping will be high limiting what they can be sold for?
