Last week I managed to pick up an assortment of military radio ware that includes: RT-68, 299 mount, both 12 & 24 volt power supplies, antennas, various assessories, etc. I'll try to post pix later.

Included in this treasurer trove is a PRC-10 with full backpack assessories and the associated AM-598/U. My question is how is the AM-598/U vehicle mounted in an M38? Were they?

I currently have a VRC-10 setup on the left side on my M38 and might like to mount the AM-598/U on the left side.

By the way should I elect to do this I might have a nice repro M-31c mount with pintle available (currently installed).

Thanx for all help, LoboMike

Hi LoboMike,
I can't give you the particulars on mounting information for the M38, but maybe I can help you a little. One thing I did not see in the pictures was a MT-759 mount plate, which the AM-598 clamps on using the thumb screws on the bottom. (The MT-759 has four 1/4 NFT mounts on the bottom, if I remember right.) Once clamped on there is a canvas strap that goes around the mount plate, power supply, and radio. You might also want to use a LS-166 loudspeaker. Good luck.

Try Steve Haney at:
tc0654@mesh.net

This is the last e-mail address I had for him, but it has been a while since I sent him anything and I don't know if he still uses it.

LoboMike - I've got just what you need to mount all that gear on! It won't mount the PRC-10, but it will mount all that VRC stuff. It replaces the rear seal in your M38!

It's a MT-297 with a C-435 controller. OR - will make an excellent boat anchor, door stop, etc. Very Happy

Chuck,

Thanx but not really what I am looking for. I need a MT-579 mount for an AM-598/U (RT-176). I have a VRC-10 mounted in my M38 and want to mount the RT-176 - AM-598/U on the opposite side.

Thanx for responding,
LoboMike
