Torque specs are a lean topic on these jeeps. A very small percent of fasteners have specific torques listed in the TM's. The large majority of fasteners are torqued IAW the standard torque values published for that size, diameter, grade and thread pitch.
The best source of application specific fastener torques for these jeeps is the two last published factory maintenance manuals. SM-1002 for the flat fenders and SM-1046 for the Round fender F134's.

Thanks, I will use that when I put everything back together. I am surprised that the military did not list torque values for everything considering how much they love manuals and standardization. I also can't believe that the transmission mainshaft nut is supposed to be torqued to 130ft-lbs, upon disassemble I took that off with my fingers. Does anybody have a trick for keeping the transfercase steady while torquing down the shaft nuts. I have read to hook it up to the transmission and put it in first and third at the same time but that sounds like it would put a lot of force on the gears. Anybody have a thought on that?
If you are referring to the transfer case output shaft yoke nuts the proper method to secure the shaft so you can torques the nut is with the yoke saddle or holder that fits over the yoke snugly and has a long handle.
The later TM's all have general torque charts in them. _________________ Wes K

The slowest transmission and transfer case work in the history of military jeeps is still under way. I plan to do some more work this weekend and just wanted to clear a few things up. When installing the seals around the output shaft the order goes, round gasket, seal (open end facing in), and then the felt is attached to the companion flange for the rear and the back of the yolk for the front?
The other question I had is that my gasket and seal kit came with one gasket the looks eerily similar to the rear bearing retainer shim set (TM9-8015-2 Figure 73 ZZ,AB,AC) I do not see a gasket that is supposed to go here. Is the new gasket supposed to replace one of the shims? If so, which one?
Also, thanks for those links, they have been very helpful. I am not doing a full disassembly so I cannot follow them step by step, but they are great.
