Howdy,
I am trying to find a picture of the front end of the safaty cable, along with whatever sort of bracket is on the bell housing.
I cannot see where any bracket can attach to the engine, except at the bolt holding the spacer plate to the bell housing. Applying tension there looks like a good way to break the cast ear off of the bell housing.
Any insights would be appreciated.

Thanks guys, and Wes, I wish I had known about your pictures when I started this mess.
I see that the bell housing is reinforced on the front side with an angle.
That was what I was afraid might break under hard load, and the angle spreads out the load so that it is not concentrated on the bolt lug.

Attention CZ,
Do not overtighten the cable. It should to provide 1/2 inch up and down movement by thumb pressure.
