I'm having some problems getting the bolts to work with the 24 volt generator on the M38. The generator bolt holes seem to be smaller than these bolts. I get a measurement of close to 7/16" on the drive end hole and the other end is worn in some. But these bolts are a little to big. Plus the grommet holes are a lot larger the bolt shoulders.
Do I have the wrong bolts and gromments? There is a typo on the .900 O.D. It should be .490" O.D.
These are not great photos but the first one is a civilian and the second is military.
I found some NOS through Midwest Military or Mullins, I can't remember now. Grommets should be a one piece rubber. They are hard to get into the holes.
Since the large washers have a 17/32" ID the shoulders on the bolts must be less than .53125. _________________ Wes K

On my generator, After butchering the bushings to get them in the hole. I had to go with straight 7/16" x 2 1/2" bolts. The SNL called for bolts with 7/16" thread on them...
I made a typo error in the deminsions of one bolt in the photo. (error .900") (correct .490") I called the vendor that sent me the bolts and grommets and told him of my problem. He said they sent me the wrong ones. And the ones I got are probably for an MB. He said the M38 has 7/16" threads and shoulders.
They are suspose to be sending the right ones. _________________ Tropical Veteran
