We went to get my M38 ready for the parades and found that somehow the hi/lo and 4 wheel drive levers appear to be jammed. The transmission won't turn and kills the engine if you try to move it. Anyone come across this problem and how to you fix it short of removing the transmission?

Thanks, Jim.

Is it stored in a heated or un-heated garage. If un-heated I would guess that your transmission has water in it and it has frozen.

Jack up one wheel & let the transmission unwind.
It is not good or recommended to run in 4WD on hard surfaces.

Problem solved! Last summer we rebuilt the clutch and while the tranny was out we power washed it and I thought we drained it and refilled but I guess I was wrong. Thanks for the help.

It surprised me how quickly it loosened but after we put the karosene heater on it.
