It was stamped 8000 by a different set of number stamps than used on the 50-R. That's clear to see. I have no desire to argue this with you Mike. It's obvious from your photo that 8000 was stamped by a different set of stamp dies. If Keith is aware of any special 50-R production that went with 8000 he hasn't shared that with us.

Hi Wes...... I am curious where the info comes from relating to the 50R being a 5000# winch?

But I simply tried to answer your question and I offered ir-reputable evidence that there are a lot more 50-R's rated at 5000 than the one unit you showed us rated at 8000 with a mismatched plate stamping.

Wes, I am in no way trying to conjure up an arguement either..... You DID offer proof that I asked for, and I appreciate that info.... I just know that this isn't the first 50R that I have seen stamped 8000#.

I shall research further regarding the font issue. I will not imply that I disagree with that comment, rather I just can't agree with it at the present moment.

Maybe, just maybe, since this was a later issue "kit", that Ramsey retested the capacity, and it met criteria for 8000#.......

again, not trying to start disgruntlement, rather fruitful conjecture....

I would suspect your unit is a rebuild that was uprated. You may want to check your actual cable type, size & rating.

There are two, maybe 3 different Willys Part numbers for the model 50-R.
I will try to locate some information on the reason for the different numbers.

I choose to use the Safe-line clamp system on my model 50 winch set-up. I like the look. However, I must say I have never put any significant tension on this cable, so I can't really speak to its holding capacity.

Thanks for the picture Dan. I bought one of those connectors. Haven't installed it yet.
