Is there a different radiator that I can use if I do not have the money to replace the original one? I have a M38A1 and the one it came with is rotten.

Thanks
Holly

Hello Holly,
Hopefully more experienced folks will reply, but I would guess
a standard CJ5 replacement radiator would work.

It should have the same orientation of hose on be too a as well
as the radiator to cowl brace rod mounts.

Good luck.

Any quality radiator shop can repair or replace your radiator with a modern one that will fit with minimal customization.

If your M38A1 is otherwise stock then just provide them the grill, with old radiator, and a photo of the front of the engine. Then give them the system specifications. These are found in your TM 9-8014 Page 136 / 137

For the record NOS radiators are still available and sell for around $400 to $500. The hardest part is finding one.

I am going to guess Holly has already considered that.

I replaced my radiator with one from a 1957 CJ5, and it fit fine, and I used it until I could find a good used M38A1 one. Probably the MVPA National meet, or one of the regional meets is a good place to find a decent one.
