I just flipped on the tv - Building Alaska was on. I've never watched this show before. Lo and behold, they were getting their original M38a1 running so that they could use it to widen and flatten their runway! They said it was a '55. It looks to be pretty original except for wheel/tires and a few bush mods. Has the blackout lights front and rear(didn't notice the fender mounted one. Still has the stencils on the dash AND the wooden door arctic hardtop! Pretty cool - you don't see these Jeeps used on tv anymore.

BTW, I've been away from the forums for quite a few months now because I don't seem to have the time. I've been SLOWLY working on my M100 and will be starting back on the M38a1 (I have to get the spare engine rebuilt, test run, installed and a few other things before the Denton, NC rally in April). I will be posting the flyer for the rally shortly. We are trying to get MAX attendance this year, because the survival of the rally depends on this and next year's success!
