Looking for a 12v version of an M38 fuel tank sending unit. Does anyone know if such an animal exists, and if so, who provides it?

Thanks much!

There is a CJ type sender that has five holes in the right
pattern. Whether the float and arm are clocked right
only Bretto and maybe others can tell.

He has a 12 volt M38 and is using an available gauge for the
CJ. Am positive he bought both as a set at the same time.

Be aware the later CJ senders have six holes, and all of those
units won't read completely empty as the M38 tank is deeper.

Brett, do you have those numbers handy?

If you are seeking a functional 12 volt gas level gauge then buy any quality aftermarket universal 12 volt gauge and sender and follow the manufacturer's instructions. There are several good ones out there and don't worry about how many screw holes. Once you have the sender set up for your tank just drill all the new holes you need in the sender to match the tank. Most are very close on at least a few of the holes. With the gasket the empty holes in the sender won't leak.

There are no aftermarket 12 volt senders that are a resistance match for the stock 24 volt indicator.

So buy a brand new matched set and enjoy years of reliability.
