It appears from their description that American Canvas (in the UK!) sell repro frames and canvas covers as part of their M38A1 kit:

Their kit comes with side curtains - but I know from past experience they make it all to order, and will sell you individual pieces. Wouldn't be surprised if they weighed in around your $500 target (given how the GBP has slipped against the USD), even with shipping.

Thanks for the link Vince. I ran across them last night, but wrote them off because they are in the UK. I am working with a guy here in NC now. I was talking with him a couple of years ago before I lost interest in the project. I sent an email to Canvasco for more information any how. I'll post that info on here when I receive it.

Thanks

It sure would be nice if someone could start repopping these frames since they seem to be so rare. Only problem is the cost. I think it is MD Juan that are making the m38 ones, but nothing for the a1. If I'm not mistaken, it seems I saw a $300 price on those, which is a good bit more than I am willing to pay. But I guess some folks don't mind paying the price.

Have you asked Midwest Military etc.? I think they said that the A1 had them in round and flat steel frames. I know how you feel about M38 door frames in general. Hard to find. These pushed me into buying a new winter complete enclosure. Also a heater. I like the idea of being ready for bad weather now. These were the first I'd seen in a long time. Oilly

The only dealer I've talked to is Pete Debella - he has complete kits for $500 (when I was asking about them anyway), but the canvas is no good. So, it would've basically cost me $500 for the frames and hardware - that's a no go for me. I actually had a Sears hard top and doors that I sold a few years ago - didn't look military, but would've served the purpose. I was working a deal with another guy a few years ago for some frames and he contacted me again today, so I might have a set before to long.
