L134 valve side cover

I have my L134 motor pulled from my '52 M38 for some work and was going to add in the PCV system and heat riser assembly since a PO removed both. Ordered all the parts I thought I needed and ran into a hiccup immediately.

I have looked at a ton of pictures and exploded views on how to do this but I never noticed that it seems like my valve side cover has been put on 180 degrees and the ventilator cup body has been swapped out with some other style?

We have already verified that my motor is a replacement L134 motor. Is this as easy as pulling that cover, turning 180 degrees, and bolting it back up? I'm not the kind of guy to just start pulling stuff apart without knowing what it is going to affect so any advice would be much appreciated.

When you pull the heat riser jusy rempve the cover and flip it over.

And you need a different cup. The one you have has the road draft
tube attached to it.

That pipe hanging down from the single bolt on the right (aft) end of the side valve cover is a road draft pipe. It's the predecessor of the PCV valve. They were usually installed that location on most Willys vehicles.

As already mentioned just remove the cover and rotate it 180 degrees and then locate your appropriate parts with the cup now on the left (fwd) end of the side valve cover.

While you are at it remove that tee where the oil pressure line goes and
replace it with a 90 and reinstall the oil pressure line.

Buy the correct flexible oil line from the filter and necessary fittings,
remove the plug and install in the block below the fuel pump.

This is a great time to do it with the engine out as access with it installed
and the fuel pump in makes it a real challenge.

Brian is describing oil line connections that should go to these two 90 degree fittings.

You may as well replace that non-stock fuel pump at the same time!

This is how you want the left side of your engine looking!

Awesome, glad to know the valve cover is that simple. I didn't look close enough buy yes, I do need that cup. I ordered everything from the PCV valve to that cup. Have one you are looking to sell Brian?

And thanks for the advice on the oil lines. I tried to order what I believe is everything to fix those two lines earlier last week but some parts are back ordered for a few weeks. Haven't tried looking for used parts but if anyone knows of one that's for sale, I would love to know!

And in order to keep my wife happy, gonna have to leave the fuel pump in its tweaked state. Would love to get it all back to original but gotta pick and choose the battles right now.

By the way. Make sure you order the M38 W0-801312 line assembly.
Some sellers are selling one that must be for a CJ. It's too long
and is bent incorrectly. The fitting on the cap
goes up not down.

Midwest Military, Army Jeep Parts, DeBella, etc should have everything
you need as far as hoses and stuff. I don't think I'd buy a used hose.
You have no idea how old it is and that's one thing you don't want to fail.
