Finally finished up (every really finished??) my dad's 1955 M38A1.
This forum has been an absolutely great source of info during this build. Hopefully after going through this process I can be of help to other folks in the future.

You can view a few photos of my project at my album located at:

My dad bought this jeep when I was a kid....the late 60's...from a local fire dept. He tore it apart and fixed it up and it was a member of our family for many years. As a teenager with a driver's license and immortality, me and my friends had MANY great adventures in the Jeep (I'm now repairing many things I broke back in the late 70's). Dad decided to sell it about 20 years ago and I didn't have anywhere to put it so I let it get away. I've been trying to get it back for the last 10 years and I finally brought it back home March 11, 2017. The fellow that bought it had grand plans. He's a Korean war vet and the markings on the jeep are from his unit. But he just took it apart and let it sit in a shed for the past 20 years.....with gas in the tank.
Had many things to do.... I've rebuilt engine, trans, diffs, axles, brakes, radiator, interior, etc... Ground out some THICK bondo and found a bit of rust. Cut it out and welded in new metal. Rigged up a "red neck paint booth" in my shop and gave her a few coats of semi-gloss olive drab.

She's now ready for the July 4th parades this year!!!

Kinda funny...parts much easier to find now than when dad was working on it. No internet then...best sources were the Sears Jeep catalog and JC Whitney.

I think dad would approve.

Thanks,
Keith
