Is it correct that the front and rear end yokes are the same. My rear has the dust cover but the front doesn’t. A front should be able to go in the rear correct. Also any reason a yoke from a cj3a if it’s ten spline wouldn’t work? 1952 M38. John jr _________________ 52 m38
This type of question is best answered in your parts manual. Also try to offer a bit more detail in your question. There are 5 yokes, 1 flange & 2 shaft assemblies commonly referred to as "Yokes". The front yoke and rear flange on the transfer case and the front axle yoke and the rear axle yoke. The 2 yokes (short shafts) and the two Long Shafts (w-yokes) on the front & rear propeller shafts.
Rear flange & shield items C & D.
Front yoke with integral shield item K.
Item R.
Item R & Q
Item G Yoke & Item L Shaft (w/integral yoke)
Item H Yoke & Item M Shaft (w/integral yoke)

Wes, per the parts manual, will the front and rear axle yokes which are item R on the list interchange. I realize the front yoke doesn’t have the the dust cover like the rear. Also wondering why they have different parts number if they can be used on either axle. Will the civilian yokes work?thanks John jr. _________________ 52 m38
Can't tell you if they interchange perfectly. They do differ in construction. The rear has a step for the dust shield to be pressed on. The correct yokes are not that difficult to find, I would suggest not experimenting without doing some very accurate measuring on seal surface diameters and spline dimensions.
